If you are a tenant or landlord with a dispute that you have been unable to settle on your own, the following organizations may be able to help:

For both:

For renters:

Renters Law Line, a free, 24-hour information service offered by the Tenant Legal Center of San Diego at 858.571.1166.
Legal Clinic, USD,  619.260.7470
Legal Aid Society at 619.262.0896 (only if in eviction process)

For owners:

San Diego County Apartment Association at 858.278.8070.

A warning to tenants: withholding part or all of your rent gives the landlord the right to three (3) day notice to quit and thereafter commence legal proceedings against you based upon this eviction notice. If the property you are renting needs repair to correct a substantial breach of the warranty of habitability, or there are something impacting safety and or health issues, write to your landlord detailing the work that needs to be done. Continue to pay your rent and seek legal assistance if your landlord does not respond in a reasonable time.
