Fair housing laws and support services

The City of San Diego, under the direction of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, enforces the Fair Housing Act - which prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings, and in other housing-related transactions, based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status (including children under the age of 18 living with parents of legal custodians, pregnant women, and people securing custody of children under the age of 18), and physical disabilities.

If you believe you have been denied housing because of discrimination, contact the Center for Social Advocacy by calling 619.444.5700 x 308, locally.

Fair Housing report

The Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice is a document which looks at San Diego from a regional perspective with regard to fair housing.  The document provides demographics and community profiles, studies public policies, lending practices, and fair housing activities in the region.  (Note, as this is a large PDF document, it may take three to five minutes to download, depending on your connection speed.)
