For-Sale Affordable Homes The San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) has helped create policies within the City of San Diego that require private sector developers to make new homes available to qualified buyers at reduced, below-market-rate prices. You do not have to be a first-time home buyer to purchase For-Sale Affordable Homes. Assistance to Purchase For-Sale Affordable Homes Despite the below-market-rate prices, some home buyers are still not able to qualify to buy For-Sale Affordable Homes. Depending on eligibility, some households can apply to SDHC for financial assistance to purchase one of these homes, creating even deeper affordability.
SDHC offers assistance to purchase For-Sale Affordable Homes in the form of Down Payment/Closing Cost Grants and Mortgage Credit Certificates, which are offered through SDHC’s regular Home Buyer Assistance Programs.
SDHC also offers assistance to purchase For-Sale Affordable Homes in the form of a Deferred Second Trust Deed Loan. You may be eligible for a 3% interest loan that does not require equity sharing. These loans are available to households within two income ranges:
