The Housing Commission has programs to help
buyers purchase below-market rate homes. Built by private sector developers
meeting City of San Diego affordability requirements, these homes are
available at reduced purchase prices.
Note, in most cases, you don’t have to be a
first-time homebuyer to purchase for-sale affordable homes as long as you do
not receive any financial assistance through other Housing Commission
programs. Note, a “first-time home buyer” is defined as someone who has not
owned real estate in the last three years.
Note, in addition to newly constructed units,
buyers may also purchase For-Sale Affordable Homes when
they are resold by the original buyer. If you are interested in purchasing a
resale home, please
complete and return the prequalification
worksheet. Your name will then be placed on an interest
list and we will contact you when an affordable unit is being resold if you
appear to meet the eligibility criteria.
about purchase assistance for below-market-rate homes (and see list below).
Currently, there are a limited number of For-sale affordable homes. As
more homes become available, information will be posted here.
