Commissioner Todd
Gloria, appointed to the Board of Commissioners in 2005,
is a native San Diegan with significant experience in
housing policy. Since 2001, he has been the district
director and housing advisor for U.S. Congresswoman Susan A. Davis and in
that capacity serves as housing advisor. He has worked
with the Congresswoman to support federal funding for
affordable housing programs, expand local military
family housing, and improve the U.S. Department of
Veteran's Affairs home loan program. Previously, he
worked in the
County
of
San Diego's
Health and Human Services Agency.
Very active in his
community, Gloria served on the
County
of
San Diego's
Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS grant
allocation team and helped establish the Sunburst
Apartments, a 24-unit affordable housing complex for
young people in
East
Village.
Gloria's work has
been recognized by numerous organizations, including the
National
Conflict
Resolution
Center
(formerly the
San Diego
Mediation
Center),
the Greater San Diego Business Association, and the HIV
Consumer Council. He was named a 1999 Harry S. Truman
Scholar and one of San Diego's "Top 40 Under Forty" by
San Diego Metropolitan Magazine in 2005.
Commissioner Gloria
is a graduate of the
University
of
San Diego
and an enrolled member of the Tlight-Haida Indian Tribes
of Alaska. He and his partner are homeowners in the
Cherokee Point neighborhood of
City
Heights.
