HUD High Performing Agency
SDHC Achievement Academy
Providing participants a bridge to a better economic future, the San Diego Housing Commission’s (SDHC) Achievement Academy operates at our downtown San Diego headquarters.
The 9,600 square foot Achievement Academy is a state-of-the-art learning and skills center available at no charge to families receiving federal Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) and those living in our public housing properties.
The SDHC Achievement Academy evolved from a 1990 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) request that public housing agencies implement programs to assist clients with career planning, job training and financial literacy.
The Family Self-Sufficiency is the Achievement Academy's core program. This program includes job training, career planning, and financial literacy education such as budgeting, saving, establishing good credit and income tax preparation.
SDHC's Achievement Academy staff serves as workforce readiness specialists, helping participants develop achievable career goals. Area colleges and private-sector partners donate services and provide free workshops on topics such as personal finance, finding a job, and starting a small business.
So take control of your future! For more information about the SDHC's Achievement Academy, please contact the SDHC Achievement Academy at 619-578-7451 or by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
